
MATTHIAS EBERSPÄCHER-SCHWEDA
Dr Med Vet, Dipl AVDC, Dipl EVDC
Following graduation from the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna/Austria in 2005, Dr. Eberspächer-Schweda spent one-year in private practice, before commencing a one-year small animal rotating internship. After two-years as assistant in Small Animal Surgery he started working with Prof. Dr. Karl Zetner, Dipl. EVDC at the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Department.
In 2010 and 2012 he completed a 5 and 4-week externship at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
In 2011 he became a Small Animal Specialist/FTA. He attended many trainings in Dentistry and Oral Surgery since he completed an AVDC full-time residency in 2019, became Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) in 2022, and in 2023 of the European Veterinary College (EVDC).
For many years, he was head of dental and oral surgery at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, radiation protection officer and in charge of laser protection. Since 2023, he has been working for the largest veterinary clinic in Austria (Vetklinikum). His research interests include oro-maxillofacial surgery (trauma and oncologic surgery), maxillofacial reconstruction, laser surgery and imaging diagnostics using computed tomography, cone-beam CT and micro-CT in small animals and pets.
