
EITHNE J. COMERFORD
DVM, PhD, Dipl ECVS
Eithne graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UCD, Ireland in 1995.
From 1995-2006, Eithne worked at the University of Bristol, where she was awarded her PhD on the pathogenesis of cranial cruciate ligament disease. Since 2006, Eithne has worked at the University of Liverpool being awarded her Dipl ECVS in 2009 and becoming Professor of Small Animal Surgery in 2014.
Her main clinical interests include minimally invasive joint surgery, cranial cruciate ligament disease (CCLD) and management of osteoarthritis and her research interests include small animal joint replacement registries, gait dynamics in different dog breeds with healthy ageing and structural changes in human and canine cruciate ligaments with ageing and disease. Professional interests include mentoring clinical staff and early career researchers and Eithne is actively involved in external committees such as the European board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS).
