Dr. Bianca Hettlich is a small animal orthopedic and spine surgeon from Germany.
She spent 16 years in the United States, where she underwent surgical training at Texas A&M University and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
After 9 years in Texas, she moved to Ohio and received tenure with associate professor at the Ohio State University in 2014. Since returning to Europe in 2015, she worked for 6 years at the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern, Switzerland, and spent several years in private specialty practice in Germany. In 2025, she became professor of small animal surgery at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany. While orthopaedics is her main clinical work, Dr. Hettlich’s research focus is spinal biomechanics and improving patient safety during spinal stabilization.
